My Experience with Cinema – Bhaag Milkha Bhaag

These lines, this thought came into my mind…when I asked myself “how was my experience of watching this movie?”

Honestly, it wasn’t an entertainment movie. It was an experience. It was a realization of how some of the greatest legends took shape and reached to the height where they are looked upon by the entire world.

Milkha Singh, the Flying Sikh, has lived such a life and is certainly a very inspirational one.

This time again I realized that how cruel the partition was actually?

It has definitely teared and brutually injured the souls of many unfortunate HINDUSTANIs of that age.

And when you grow up with such insensitive experiences, which murdered your childhood very early, you don’t need a HUGE GOAL / DREAM for living a life.
I felt so at 2 instances in the movie…

1. When Milkha Singh decides to run for the qualifying race for MILK. It could be thing to laugh for many of us. But one can feel the presence of a young-innocent boy, who has always liked to drink Milk than anything else during his childhood. But he’s deprived of this very basic thing, which becomes a REASON to chose his CAREER path.
I mean, isn’t it strange. We keep thinking about so many things while deciding upon what should be our career path; and sometimes a simple reason becomes way of life for someone. 🙂

2. INDIA’s Blazer – Milkha Singh’s innocent wish to wear a cloth which attracts attention, gives you RESPECT and power was so beautifully expressed by Farhan. Remember the scene where he stands infront of the Mirror wearing that blazer and talking to himself. One can see the glittering happiness and innocence in his eyes.
The sudden encounter with the reality of the mean world, though brings him back from his childhood. It becomes a reason for him to CHALLENGE THE NATIONAL PLAYER and his RECORD, so that he earns the very same INDIAN BLAZER.

Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra, the director of the movie (whom you saw as the CAPTAIN of the PLANE in the movie) picturized these minute emotions very well. And one should appreciate the writing of PRASOON JOSHI, the story writer-screeplay writer and lyriscist also for the movie, who wrote the script so powerfully.

It must be a HUGE challenge for representing a LIVING LEGENDs life on BIG SCREEN. The facts, the detailing and even the emotion also need to be at-par everytime. No scope for mistakes.

The man who lived a life on screen and that too so wonderfully is FARHAN AKHTAR. I have always admired this profession for this reason only. You live MANY lives in your single life. Its an opportunity for many and may be curse also. Anyways, lets talk about Farhan.

Be it the look of the charachter…

Be it the physique of an athelete…

or simply be it the races he actually ran.

He did everything so perfectly.

In all, the movie was an experience. An example of strong determination, hard work and focus for achieving something you decided for yourself.

Kudos to Rakyesh Omprakash Mehra – Prasoon Joshi – Farhan Akhtar and the entire team.

Thanks for showcasing the life of a great sportperson.

At the end, let me mention something about the music. An album which was filled with peppy songs, sufi duets and encouraging tracks. Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy did a wonderful job.
“Hawan Kund” initially felt like a boring-dull song, but once u see the movie you keep humming…

हवन करेंगे… हवन करेंगे… हवन करेंगे…
